Alumni Association Update – Andrea Cranfield.
Andrea introduced Jordan Gonzales, Assistant Director of Student Programs. Jordan explained the Alumni Association is expanding its role at UNL Commencement. He invited Emeriti faculty to collaborate with the Young Alumni Group to serve as a welcoming committee for graduates and their families at commencement. The welcoming group would greet graduates and their families as they enter the Pinnacle Bank Arena, help seat them and answer any questions the graduates/families may have about the ceremony. Jordon stated there would be a training session before the start of both the graduate (1:00 PM Friday, May 6) and undergraduate (7:30 AM, Saturday, May 7) commencement ceremonies. Volunteers will receive a premier parking pass that will allow access to the parking garage. At least 20 Emeriti faculty are needed for both graduate and undergraduate spring commencements. Jordan Gonzales <jgonzales@huskeralum.org> needs to be notified of participating emeriti faculty by April 20. It was agreed that an announcement of the opportunity be made at the March 22 luncheon and an email announcing the opportunity will be sent to the Emeriti Association members. -

Membership Expansion Committee Report & Discussion- Jim Griesen.
Jim reported that he and Committee members met with Bruce Currin who suggested the membership be expanded to all UNL retirees. This is the model for most of the Big 10 schools. Currin stated that Human Resources will cooperate and provide a list to the retirement group each spring listing those persons eligible for retirement. The Alumni Association was also supportive.
Jim and Committee members were to meet with Currin and Alumni Director Shelley Zaborowski immediately following the current meeting. The Board agreed it best to move forward in terms of exploring a plan to include all retirees within one organization, keeping a separate Emeriti Association for limited social events, but moving all programming to the broader organization.
