3. Introduction of Guest. President Rita Kean introduced Linda Major, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs—Center for Civic Engagement. The board has been discussing volunteer opportunities for emeriti/retirees, and the center has programs working with students in which our members might have interest. The purpose of the center is to provide service learning and leadership opportunities for students by connecting curricular and co-curricular opportunities to address critical human needs through service, civic-related research and social change leadership. Linda identified programs in which our members might volunteer in the areas of Post-Secondary Teammates, Resource Center, and Advocacy Program. She will prepare our board with a menu of options, each option listing purpose, time commitment, and need. She also will talk with others in student services areas to identify additional programs such as First Gen and include those programs in the menu of options.
