It was held at the Kellogg Center, and included tote bags and a tour of what was described as the largest area campus in the U. S. Some campuses had a variety of interest groups. Results of a survey of the participants’ interests will provide information for program planning for next year.

  5. Big Ten Retiree Organization Conference 2016. John Bernthal reported Jim Griesen is Conference Chair, Al Seagren is fund-raising Chair, and he is Program Chair. The program will include the usual Opening Reception/Dinner hosted by the Chancellor, a tour of the campus, and sessions on topics consistent with the theme. Consideration will be given to topics useful for programing on the participants’ campuses. Donations from the Board members, and requests for Deans to sponsor breaks (Education and Family Sciences, Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, etc.) are being made.

  6. Fall Programs. The “yellow card” listing fall semester programs has been mailed.

  7. Election of New Officers. The procedures for the fall election of officers were reviewed.
The Nominating Committee has nominated the following, as announced to members in September:
Julie Johnson – Vice President and Program Chairperson.
Rita Kean – Three year Emeriti Board Member.

The floor will be open to additional nominations at the October 20, 2016, business meeting. If there are none the membership will vote at that meeting; otherwise, the elections will be held at the November 17, 2016, meeting.

  8. Special Interest Groups. John Comer reported on the Political Discussion Group (third Thursday), and the International Discussion Group (first Wednesday), each co-sponsored by OLLI and meeting monthly at Stouffer’s Restaurant. Attendance has been high. An Environment Interest Group (2nd Wednesday) has also begun. Other interest groups are a possibility, but finding leadership would be important.

  9. Emeriti Association Newsletter. Julie Johnson presented a report on the newsletter development with questions related to mailing and timing of these as well as a proposed schedule for newsletter copy. Charlyne Berens, Journalism Emerita, has agreed to assist with editing and has provided useful guidelines for writing of the newsletter. The Alumni Association provided 400 copies of the fall 2015 issue for distribution. They will be available at the October luncheon meeting. It will be available to all members on email. He and Rita Kean will explore options for replacing this service including the UNL Hospitality Management program (Fayrene Hamouz), Premier Catering, and any other possibilities for authorized caterers. A change of venues is possible, but loses the campus contact.
