November 2014 Association Minutes East Campus Union

A luncheon was served to approximately 60  members with 4  brown bagging members.

Program:  Vice-President, Duane Eversoll, introduced Dr. Shane Farritor, Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering  at UNL who presented a visualized program on "Surgical Robots Being Developed at the University of Nebraska."  In collaboration with UNMC, a new concept in robotic surgery is being developed by a team of faculty and students to reduce pain, and improve the quality of surgical care with these tools and procedures.   He discussed the issues of costs, skills, trials and development processes associated with the project.  After an interesting question and answer session, Dr. Farritor was presented with an Emeriti Mug and thanked for his presentation.

Business Meeting.  John Comer, president, convened the business meeting at 12:35 pm.

2. 2016 Big Ten Conference of Retiree Organizations.  Emeriti are invited to contribution toward the support of the conference.Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Nebraska Foundation, Emeriti Fund #13266.

3. New oral histories have  been added the Emeriti website.

4. Vice-President and President-Elect, James Griesen, was introduced and  members were encouraged to make suggestions for future program  topics.  Duane Eversoll will serve as President of the Association for 2015.    Appreciation  was expressed for John Comer's leadership as President during  2014.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:45 pm.

A Christmas Party will be help December 9, 2014, 9:30 am, at the Home of Lee and Kay            Rockwell, 1411 Kingston Rd.  Bring a Christmas treat.
