November 2006

The Wisherd Committee recommended and the Board approved:

From the research-scholarly activity area two awards:

 1. An award for $1,000 to Dean Hazel Anthony and her associates to print and distribute their historical work, “The Home Economics Legacy Project,” on contributions of the UNL Home Economics College faculty over the history of the College.  This project has received previous Wisherd support to collect and sort data and is now assembling the results to be deposited in the UNL Library, the E & HS College Dean’s and Placement Offices and other useful places.

 2. An award of $300 dollars for Professor Earl Barnawell’s research proposal to forward research into the pituitary which will be useful in itself and will encourage others to take up work needed in the area.

From the Health Support area two awards:

 1. $1000 toward unreimbursed costs exceeding $6,OOO to an individual.

 2.  $1000 toward meeting unreimbursed  costs exceeding $3300 to another individual..

These are all the applications we received.  Between this year’s returns and accumulated assets, the Wisherd fund could cover these easily and have 7 or 8 times the expended amount left over.

 Respectfully Submitted,
Jim McShane, Chair
