Old Business

1. Alumni Association. Andrea Cranford, reported two articles in Association publications in February about Emeriti Association activities. Appreciation for this visibility was expressed by the Board. They will also do a story on the “Emeriti in Action” display being placed in Love Library in April. The Alumni Association will do invitations for the reception.
2. Emeriti in Action Project . Lowell Moser reported that thirty-seven submissions of Emeriti activities has been gathered. They will be sorted next Monday and turned over to the Library to build the exhibit. Display cases have been purchased and wording for brass plates commemorating the Wisherd sisters is being composed. The display will be available for viewing in April through June, with an “Emeriti Night” on May 6, 2010, 4:00 pm, to honor Emeriti with a wine/cheese reception at the exhibit (probably second floor North, Love Library). We will try to get a Scarlet story highlighting this activity.
3. Oral History Project. Tice Miller has received names of individuals suggested for this project.
4. Dues Structure and Financial Report. A change in dues was discussed with an invitation for input from members at the February Members Meeting. No negative feedback was reported. Annual membership, $10.00; Three-year $25.00; and Life $200 as a contribution to the Emeriti Foundation account. The Emeriti constitution requires part of the Life Membership go to the Wisherd Fund. The change was approved.
5. Management of Finances. the Emeriti Association will move to an internal UNL cost center for on-campus expenses; however, it was recommended that a small checking account be continued for such things as travel expenses.
6. Wisherd Foundation Funds Eligibility. The February Member Meeting, the issue of who should be eligible for Wisherd Fund grants was discussed with possible alternatives. Several members expressed the view that it should be restricted to Emeriti Association paid members. The Board agreed with this view. It was suggested that one more mailing (fall 2010) to all Emeriti give notice that this condition would be applied to all Wisherd grants in the future.
7. Announcements: The President’s Luncheon for Retirees will be 11:30 am, May 20, 2010, Embassy Suites Hotel, Lincoln. The Foundation Luncheon will be September 9, 2010. It was agreed that we schedule a regular Member Meeting the third week of September 2010.
Herb Howe and Dan Wheeler will attend the AROHE meeting in October. Participation in the Conference Program is being planned.
