University of Nebraska Foundation

The University of Nebraska Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization that has provided support to the University of Nebraska by raising private dollars for over 70 years. Each year the foundation transfers funds to the University of Nebraska System for students, faculty, academic programs, research, and building and campus capital improvements. 

The Foundation provides support to the UNL Emeriti Association through the Maude E. Wisherd Fund and the administration of the UNL Emeriti Association Foundation Fund. 

The Wisherd fund exists because of the generosity of Zelma Wisherd.  Zelma named the Foundation as a beneficiary of her estate.  At her death a portion of the estate was used to create a fund to support the UNL Emeriti in memory of her sister Maude Wisherd, a former Emeriti member. Today the UNL Emeriti Association uses the income from the Wisherd Fund to make grants available to its members.

Each fall the NU Foundation sponsors a luncheon for UNL Emeriti Association members to show its appreciation for the Association’s dedication and commitment to education and the University of Nebraska.
