February 2015 Board Minutes
Members Present: John Bernthal, John Comer, Duane Eversoll, Jack Goebel, Jim Griesen,
Julie Johnson, Doug Jose, Kay Rockwell, Delivee Wright, Doug Zatechka.
Duane Eversoll, President, called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm.
- Alumni Association News. Andrea Cranford reported that the Alumni Association has made award selections for 2015. Jim Carr, Chemistry Emeritus, will receive the Doc Elliott award. She distributed a list of graduates who will be honored.

Monte M. Page, Psychology - Treasurer’s Report.Jack Goebel is working to update bill payments for the Association. He is awaiting a transfer from the NU Foundation Emeriti Account. He moved and John Bernthal seconded a motion to transfer another six thousand dollars ($6000) from the Emeriti Foundation Account to the Emeriti Checking Account to cover future costs. Motion passed unanimously.
- Brochure and Newsletter.Julie Johnson reported on development of the brochure and newsletter. Newsletter mailing costs for color or black/white copies were reported; they also could be distributed at the meetings or online. Next week the newsletter will be posted on out web site; Julie will forward after final edits, and Del will forward the minutes for 2015 to our contact. Management of the site is expected to cost three hundred dollars ($300). Duane will meet tomorrow for final arrangements. Julie will compile a mailing list for UNL administrators who should receive the newsletter i.e., Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Alumni Director, etc.
- Big X 2015 Annual Conference.Duane Eversoll and Jim Griesen will attend the conference Aug 14-16, 2015, at Michigan State University.
- AROHE. This year we will not send a representative; perhaps once every few years.
- Spring Meeting Topics: Jim Griesen, Vice-President and Program Chair, reported:
February – David Landis, Lincoln City Planning Director.
March – Irish music by Tom Westphal, and St. Patrick’s history by Donal Burns.
April – Lunch and meeting at Innovation Campus. - Membership Relations: Kay Rockwell reported the Coffee Chat will be arranged by Nancy Aden and will be a visit to the Outdoor Recreation Building, north of Mabel Lee Hall on March 27th if that works with them. She suggested we work on strategies to engage new “Voluntary Separation Emeriti” who will be honored at the Lied Center, March 14th. Duane will speak at this event, and we will have a table for information/contact.
- Next Emeriti Meeting: Thursday, February 19, 2015, 11:30 am, East Campus Union.
- Next Emeriti Board Meeting: Tuesday, March 10th, 2015, 1:00 pm Wick Alumni Center.
- Benefits Committee. Doug Zatechka, Chair, reported no change.
