2009 Calendar of Events

All Association meetings are held at Nebraska East Campus Union
(unless otherwise designated)

For Meetings held at the East Campus Union, an 11:30 buffet lunch with soup, salad, entree, and dessert for $5 is available--providing that you have placed a reservation with Herb Howe by the Friday preceding the Meeting. Alternatively, bring your lunch and relax with other Emeriti before the program starts about noon.

Fourth Thursday, January 22:

Welcoming Luncheon for New UNL Emeriti 11:30, Champions Club. All Association members and their guests are urged to come and meet and greet the new Emeriti. Make required reservations ($5 per person) by Monday, January 19 with Herb Howe.

Fourth Tuesday, February 17:

“Universal Health Care.” David Palm, Administrator of the Office of Community Health Development, Division of Public Health, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services

Third Thursday, March 19:

“How did the Economy come to be this way?” Skip Hove, Former Vice-Chair and Interim Chair FDIC

Third Tuesday, April 21:

“The Federal Budget and Tax Policy” John Anderson, Baird Family College Professor of Economics, UNL
Meeting to be held at the Champions Club.

Third Tuesday, May 19:

UN President Milliken’s Retiree Luncheon, LaVista Embassy Suites in Omaha.
University buses will transport UNL Retirees to Omaha.

No Meetings in June, July, or August

Second Thursday, September 10:

Coffee and rolls in the City Campus Union at 9:45 prior to the State of the University Address. Please RSVP to Herb Howe  by September 3.

Chancellor Perlman’s State of the University Address, 11:00, Lied Center for Performing Arts.

NU Foundation Luncheon for UNL Emeriti. Embassy Suites, Lincoln, 12:00 Noon.

Fourth Thursday, September 24:

"Preventing crimes and promoting safety of older citizens" Lily Hans, Co-coordinator, Lincoln TRIAD.

Third Tuesday, October 20:

“Services for seniors in the Lincoln area” June Pederson, Director, Lincoln Area Agency on Aging.

Third Thursday, November 19:
