Benefits Committee ReportUniversity of Nebraska Lincoln Emeriti Benefits 1. Emeriti who apply may receive a free, annually renewable UNL parking permit. 2. Parking permit holders may obtain free bus passes that are valid both for UNL intercampus buses and Lincoln Startran buses. 3. Emeriti who hold discounted season's tickets at the time of retirement continue to have the privilege of obtaining discounted tickets to athletic events. 4. Discounted tickets are also available to emeriti faculty for Lied Center events. 5. Emeriti are eligible to use office and laboratory space, as available. The availability of such space varies widely across campuses, but in general, departments do their best to provide at least some desk space for emeriti. 6. Emeriti continue to have access to the University's library facilities and Digital Commons (see digitalcommons.unl.edu) 7. By assuming the full cost of premiums, emeriti may continue to participate in the University's medical and dental insurance program. 8. Upon payment of an annual fee, emeriti may obtain a “Senior Learning Passport” allowing them to audit a maximum of two designated UNL undergraduate courses per semester, with the permission of the instructor of any course audited. 9. Emeriti are invited to two formal annual luncheons. These annual luncheons are sponsored by the University President for retirees from all campuses of the university each spring, and co-sponsored by the UNL Foundation and the Emeriti Association for UNL Emeriti Association members each fall. 10. Faculty discounts are offered by the University Bookstore to emeriti with emeritus/emerita photo ID card. 11. For a fee emeriti with an emeritus/emerita photo id card.have access faculty access to the Recreation Center. 12. Emeriti have continued use of a University email address. 13. The regular faculty discount at UNL computer telecommunications stores remains available to emeriti. Emeriti can buy computers and software and cell phones with which UNL has a licensing agreement (Microsoft Office for example) at a considerable discount. 14. All Emeriti members are eligible to apply for financial support from the Maude E. Wisherd Fund established through the trust agreement of Zelma Wisherd. The agreement authorized that income from the fund was "to used for the welfare and comfort of the Emeriti of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln". In the past these funds have been used to support scholarly activity and help with medical expenses. University of Nebraska Lincoln Emeriti Association Benefits 1. New Emeriti Assn. members who wish to enroll in Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) for the upcoming program series are eligible for a one year free membership in OLLI. 2. Emeriti Association members enjoy the benefits of the University of Nebraska Emeriti Association Foundation Fund established for the benefit and support of the Association. 3. Emeriti Association members receive an invitation to attend membership monthly meetings for conversation and for presentations by distinguished guests on topics that are relevant to the welfare of the members. 4. The Emeriti Association provides courtesy membership privileges to the surviving spouses of its members. 5. A Committee of the Association mindfully watches obits and posts the results on the website. Deceased Emeriti are honored with a moment of silence at membership meetings. 6. The Association’s webmaster posts information of common interest on the emeriti.unl.edu website--a benefit available to all but maintained by the Association and advertised to Association members. 7. Emeriti Association Members can become members of the Emeriti Association’s electronic listserv. 8. The EA Courtesy Committee works at cheering up the ill and condoling with the grieving; it tries to congratulate each member celebrating a birthday whose number is divisible by five. 9. Each Emeriti Association member receives a subscription to the UNL Alumni Association Magazine. |
